Dylan Ahearn and family (one of the new folks in the water group)

this is what happens when a job is too small to require environmental oversite

they just do their thing and wash it into the river, into the fishes faces. asphalt, cement, dirt, oil. I just came across it on my way home. I gave them an anonymous citizen's opinion, and snapped a few pix to throw the fear in them.

fire

The memorial commemorates the four firefighters lost in the 1995 Mary Pang Warehouse fire as well as other Seattle firefighters who have died in the line of duty. Wu’s design consists of four life-size firefighters, in bronze, depicted as they are about to enter a burning building. Each figure is separate, allowing viewers to move among them. Granite slabs surround the figures, some lying flat and others leaning against one another. The names of the 31 Seattle firefighters who have died in the course of their work will be placed on one of the slabs.

oops, forgot to stop bragging about fraggin the natives

The first known drawings of the settlement of Seattle were made by Lieutenant Thomas S. Phelps from the deck of USS Decatur during the Treaty War in Washington Territory, 1855-1856. McConaghy's research explores the larger narrative of this ship's Pacific Squadron cruise, and the biography of her officers and men. The Decatur's cruise was contexted by the 1855 Act to Promote the Efficiency of the Navy, by a generational struggle between the veterans of the War of 1812 and their successors, by a service-wide disciplinary crisis, by dramatic technological changes, by diminishing autonomy for naval commanders on distant stations, and by antebellum tensions in America.
